Paper Mache Bowls

A small colorful bowl for holding all your little knick knacks.

Materials:
  • colored paper
  • wax paper
  • tape
  • tiny dish
  • small glass bowl (best with lip)
  • plastic wrap
  • scissors
  • Mod Podge® or white glue with teaspoon of water
Steps:
  1. Tape wax paper to work surface.
  2. Tear colored paper into strips
  3. Press plastic wrap into bowl, covering lip. Smooth out bubbles and wrinkles.
  4. Pour mod podge into tiny dish. Dip fingers into mod podge and rub front and back of paper strips. Press strips into plastic covered bowl.
  5. Overlap next strip working from bottom center out. Smooth out wrinkles and paper.
  6. Let dry 24 hours.
  7. Pull on plastic wrap to remove paper bowl. Trim edges with scissors if desired.
Tips:
  • In humid weather, completed bowl may stick to wooden or glass surfaces.
  • Tissue paper will give you a flimsier bowl. For thicker bowl, use construction or scrapbook paper.
  • If you're using paper with a pattern on only side, make sure patterned side is facing outward.
